Clayton has a very diversified background that started as a career in the U.S. Navy at the age of 18. After four years of active duty in the Navy, he transferred over to the U.S. Air Force where he completed eight more years of active duty. After seeing an opportunity in the civilian word, he transferred his service to the Air National Guard in Spokane, Wash. and started a career in the Airline Industry at the same time. He retired from the Air National Guard in 1998 with over 22 years of combined military service.
Clayton entered the airline Industry which added much to his diversity. He set up and managed several maintenance operations, which transitioned into a program management sales positions because of his natural people skills and experience. Working for a large manufacturer, he sold products such as aircraft seats, ovens, coffee makers and then service contracts to many airlines, both domestically and international. Between the two careers, Clayton has had the opportunity to travel extensively.
Clayton fell in love with the Real Estate industry while on active duty with the Air Force in Fairbanks, Alaska. In fact, his first open house was while working Real Estate part time with a friend, on a Sunday afternoon in Fairbanks when it was 20 below zero. It all started when he ordered a Carlton Sheets course. How ironic that many years later, he is holding open houses in 20 below zero weather again.
Throughout his career, Clayton has continually expanded his knowledge through formal and informal training. This includes Business Administration, Management and Leadership, Sales and Marketing, and Negotiating techniques. In addition, he has attended numerous seminars and workshops for sales and marketing in real estate. He is a Graduate of the Realtors Institute.
Clayton started working Real Estate full time over 8 years ago and provides services to both buyers and sellers from existing homes to new construction, and specializes in working with veterans and foreclosures. Clayton believes that honesty, integrity and communication with his clients is the key to not only his success, but to serving his clients. He feels that his career and having moved numerous times allows him to understand the emotions, stress, and excitement people go through when purchasing a home and moving.
After working in several local Real Estate offices, Clayton realized that he would make an excellent Broker, mentor, and owner of his own Real Estate office. After an exhaustive review of all the opportunities, he decided to purchase an EXIT Realty Franchise. He realized his goal in September 2006 and opened the doors to EXIT Realty Pinnacle Group in Eagan, MN.
Since then he has worked hard at maintaining the business and relationships he has built over the years all the while adjusting to the ever-changing market. As it turns out, his experience working with foreclosures has allowed him and the office to change with the market to ensure business continues prosper.
Clayton is a member of The National Association of Realtors, St. Paul Area Association of Realtors. He is a licensed Broker in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
He is an avid outdoors person and enjoys camping, fishing, biking, golf, and boating when time allows.
His basic business philosophy is to provide the best possible service to his customers and agents through knowledge, skills, performance, teamwork, and communication using the latest tools available.
